Weather update: Rain coming!

Last week, I sent a little farm update to shareholders. I wrote,

If you’ve talked with a farmer lately, you know it’s been a tad bit dry. Field crews are spending considerable time moving irrigation pipes to make sure everything that needs water get it. Farmer are crossing their fingers, hoping that their wells don’t run dry. What a contrast to last year’s cool, wet weather!  Our farmers report that late fall and winter crops are growing well. Parsnips have been weeded, celeriac and sweet potatoes are sizing up, garlic and onions have been harvested and cured. Winter squash, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and all the rest of the crops are looking good.

Looks like there might finally be a break in this dry weather.  NOAA’s weather forecast looks delicious.

Today: Showers likely, mainly after 3pm. Patchy fog after 5pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 74. East wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog before 8pm, then Patchy fog between 9pm and 11pm, then Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 65. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Monday: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog. High near 69. Breezy, with a east wind between 18 and 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 3am. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog before 2am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 59. East wind between 15 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

It’s enough to make a thirsty farmer smile 🙂
